Marjorie Yeaton Farnsworth
West Lebanon, NH – Marjorie Y. Farnsworth, 91, of Crafts Avenue, West Lebanon, NH passed away January 28, 2014 surrounded by her family at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard "Mike" Farnsworth; her children Wayne Richard Farnsworth and wife Charlene of Rumney, NH and Kevin Lee Farnsworth of White River Jct., VT; siblings Dean H. Yeaton and wife Rachel of Plymouth, NH; Doris Evans of North Haverhill, NH; Joanne Burns of Bedford, NH; two granddaughters Grace Anna Loughhead her husband Jason of Madison Heights, VA; Elizabeth Lynn Warner and her husband Matthew of Dauphin, PA; great-grandson Harrison David Loughhead of Madison Heights, VA. She was a beloved member of not only her extended family, but of her community as well. She was predeceased by a sister Lois Ireland and a brother Phillip Yeaton.
Marjorie was born December 13, 1922 in Plymouth, NH to the late Roscoe and Doris E. (Wallace) Yeaton. She was raised in Plymouth where she graduated from high school and later from the Plymouth Teachers College in 1944. She moved to West Lebanon where she taught at the West Lebanon High School on Seminary Hill for ten years. She was then employed as the secretary for New Hampshire Supreme Court Judge, Amos N. Blandin Jr. for twenty years. While working for Judge Blandin she also worked as secretary at the West Lebanon Congregational Church.
Marjorie has been an active member of the West Lebanon Congregational Church for nearly seventy years where she was a member and past Secretary for the King's Daughters. She was also active in her community, including volunteering as a tutor for adult reading; a past member of the Rebekah's in White River Jct. Vt; enjoyed dancing with her husband as a former member of the Twin State Squares; and she enjoyed camping with Mike, and granddaughters for many years. Marjorie's family and friends will always remember her quick wit, her kind and loving spirit, her fondness for cardinals and tea cups, and her beautiful bright blue eyes that truly sparkled when she engaged her family, friends, and new friends she made daily in conversation.
All are invited to join Marjorie's family during calling hours Sunday, February 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home, 903 Hartford Avenue, White River Jct., VT. A service in celebration of her life will be held Monday February 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the West Lebanon Congregational Church, 18 Maple Street, West Lebanon, NH. She will be laid to rest in the West Lebanon Cemetery immediately following the service. Ladies of the West Lebanon Congregational Church will be hosting a gathering in Marge's memory with light refreshments at the church following the graveside service.
