White River Jct., Vermont – Marion M. Wright, 92, died peacefully at her home Thursday, February 2, 2023. Marion was born July 16, 1930, in Norwich, VT the daughter of Don Lee and E. Phila (Hazen) Melendy.
She grew up in Norwich and graduated from Hanover High School in 1948. Later that fall on September 25 th , she married Cornelius "Connie" L. Wright. She worked for a short time as a cashier at the bank and also as a temporary office worker. Her husband's work as an insurance salesman required the family to move around in their early years. They lived in Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and New York, until she settled in White River Jct., VT.
Wherever Marion lived she was always active with her local church. While the girls were growing up, she served as a Brownie Leader and helped volunteer with the Girl Scouts. For the longest period of time Marion worked as a cataloger for the Baker Library at Dartmouth College.
In her later years she enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends to any of the Upper Valley Restaurants. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marion was predeceased by her husband who died in July of 1981 as well as her brothers, Allen, Carl, Robert, Donald, Roger and her sister, Margaret "Peggy" O'Connell.
She is survived by daughters, Doreen Fournier and her husband, Gordon of Langdon, NH, Shelley Hier and her husband Allan, of Hubberton, VT, four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Gordon, Jesse, and Neal, two sisters, Martha Sherer of Pennington, NJ, Madelyn Sprague of Lebanon, NH, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are pending. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the springtime in the Union Village Cemetery in Norwich, VT.
The Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT is honored to be assisting Marion's family with arrangements.
