WINDSOR, VT
Marion E. Griggs, 94, a former longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Saturday morning, March 24 at the Gill Odd Fellows Home in Ludlow.
She was born May 24, 1923 in Windsor the daughter of Clyde G. and Addie (Barton) Rickard. She received her schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1941. She married Edgar N. Griggs in Bradford, VT on June 21, 1947.
Mrs. Griggs was employed at the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Windsor for twenty five years retiring in 1978. She later practiced home healthcare in the Windsor area. She was a longtime active member of the Rachel Harlow United Methodist Church in Windsor. She was also an original member of the "Wheels Around Windsor" Program, volunteering for eighteen years. She was a member of the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Auxiliary and did volunteer work at the hospital. She enjoyed crafts, and traveling throughout the United States visiting every state, and around the world. Mr. Griggs passed away on August 13, 1991.
She was also predeceased by one sister, Mabel Pimintel, one brother, Lawrence Rickard and one great granddaughter, Genevieve McCauley.
Survivors include two sons, Vaughn R. Griggs of Naples, FL and George E. Griggs of Cavendish, VT, one daughter, Norma M. Bixby also of Naples, FL, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 24 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
