Nashua, NH- Marilyn Perkins Prouty, 84, died Tuesday January 26, 2010 at The Huntington at Nashua.
She was born October 13, 1925 in Springfield, MA. The daughter of Herbert H. and Miriam (Muzzey) Perkins. She graduated from Classical High School in Springfield, MA in 1943. She went on to obtain a Bachelors Degree from Colby College in Waterville, ME in 1949. She worked at Massachusetts General Hospital and received her RN with the class of 1956. She earned a Masters Degree in Nursing Administration from Boston University in 1964. Later that year she became the Associate Director of Nursing at Newton-Wellsley Hospital, then became the Director of Nursing at Boston Hospital for Women which is now part of Brigham and Women's Hospital. In 1972 she moved to Etna and worked at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital where she was Vice President of Nursing retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Board of Directors of WISE in Lebanon where she was the Acting Director, the Board of Friends of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, and was instrumental in starting the Bacalaurete Nursing Program at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH, and was honored by the New Hampshire Nursing Association.
She is survived by her friend and companion Anne Sweatt and her family and numerous friends.
