Hartford, Vermont – Marilyn J. McMillan, 90, died Wednesday evening, January 17, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH surrounded by her family. She was born July 18, 1933, and raised in Cambridge, VT the daughter of Walter I. and Shirley M. (Wheeler) Geno.
She married Reginald "Reggie" Tatro at the young age of fifteen. They moved to Nashua, NH where they both worked for Gov. Hugh Greg. They were divorced and Marilyn and took a job at the local Singer Sewing Store, where she met the love of her life, Felix Miga, who was the manager of the store. They fell in love and were soon married. They worked together for many years and then in 1981 Marilyn decided to open her own store, Lebanon Sew and Vac on Main Street in West Lebanon. Felix retired but Marilyn continued working building her very successful business which is still in operation today. Felix died in 1987.
Marilyn was then married to Wendall McMillan. He died June 22, 2022.
Even with the demands of running her business, Marilyn still took time to be a dedicated and active member of several local organizations, including the Red Hat Ladies and the Eastern Star. She found great comfort and strength from her faith. She was a long-time member of the Valley Bible Church in White River Jct., VT and for the last several years a member of the Olivet Baptist Church in West Lebanon, NH. Sewing projects, which she shared with family and friends, gardening, and caring for her beloved dogs were some of her favorite hobbies but most of all she loved her relationship with God and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husbands, two brothers, Irving and Roger Geno, and a sister, Brenda Richard.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Reginald I. Tatro of Hartford, several stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren, a brother, Merrill Geno of Litchfield, NH, a sister, Janet Smith of White River Jct.,VT, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, January 24, from 4 to 6PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A graveside service will be held later in July in the Hartford Cemetery in White River Jct.
