Obituary

Marie-Thérèse Martin, age 71, died at her home in Royalton with her family, on September 5th, 2012.
Thérèse was born December 4, 1940, in Butler, Missouri to the late Francis and Ninon LaHue. She moved frequently throughout her childhood, spending time in Missouri, California, and Colorado before graduating high school in Boulder, Colorado. She attended the University of Colorado and worked for the Boulder County Child Welfare Department, an early example of her commitment to helping those in need.
She met her future husband, Randolph J Martin III, whom she married March 5th 1966 and built a loving family of four boys. The family settled in Vermont in 1982 after living in Massachusetts, Colorado, and Pennsylvania.
Thérèse is survived by her husband, Randolph; her sons: Michael, Gregory, Matthew, and Nathan; five grandchildren: Laura, Alexandra, Sarah, Ethan, and Jillian; siblings: Miles Lahue, Marcia Hutson, and Louise Victorine Jardus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Frank LaHue.
Thérèse worked for the Windsor County District Court for many years.
She was an incredible storyteller who fostered a special connection with children of all ages, who inevitably came to trust and adore her. She also took in many foster children over the years, providing them with a loving and supportive home when they needed it most. Her commitment to the welfare and safety of children was deeply felt and unwavering.
There will be a private family ceremony celebrating her life and the loving impact that she had on so many people.
