Obituary

Corinth, VT- Marie Ann (Brooks) Hood, 87, died October 3, 2026, at home in Barre, VT.

Marie was born on October 16, 1938, in Piermont, NH, the daughter of Earl S. Brooks and Bessie E. Dexter. Her life was rooted in family, and she carried a generous heart, and a nurturing spirit throughout her years.

Marie worked as a factory worker for many years, showing strong work ethic and dedication. She was employed at UniFirst and later at Capital Candy, where she took pride in her work and the friendships she made along the way.

On December 9, 1994, she married E. Wayne Hood, and together they lovingly blended their families, raising eight children with dedication and love. Marie embraced the blessings and challenges of a large family with open arms and a full heart.

A talented homemaker and artist at heart, Marie found joy in simple creative pleasures. She was known for her delicious home-cooked food and had a gift for making meals that brought people together. Her wedding cakes were lovingly crafted and celebrated at countless family milestones. She also enjoyed quilting and crocheting, and many were fortunate to receive her handmade gifts. She found immense joy in her grandchildren and delighted in watching them grow, always offering a warm smile, a listening ear, and a proud heart.

Marie was predeceased by her husband, Wayne Hood in 2025. She is survived by her children, Patricia Chaffee of Barre, Roger Chaffee of Barre, Thomas Chaffee of Corinth, Terri Smith of East Orange, and Jennie Sweet of West Topsham, stepsons, Jerry Hood of East Barre, Thomas Hood of Williamstown, and Chris Hood of Barre.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 1pm on Friday, October 23rd at The Den at 110 Business Center Road, Williamstown, VT 05679. Burial will take place in the Orange Center Cemetery at a time to be announced.
