IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie A.
Garneau
June 12, 1948 – May 10, 2025
Hartland, VT – Marie A. Garneau died in the early hours of Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her home in Hartland. She was born on June 12, 1948, to Harold and Margaret (Marmaud) Hunt. She was one of eight brothers and sisters.
Marie grew up traveling around in her younger years while her dad was in the military. Once she became a bit older, they settled in Woonsocket, RI, where she graduated high school in 1964. After high school, she waited tables at the local restaurants until she started her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
In 1974, she met Maurice "Moe" Garneau after he was honorably discharged from the military, and they were inseparable ever since. They married in 1977 and moved to Vermont in 1984, starting in Hartford, until they found their current and forever home in Hartland in 1991. Over the years together, they did many trips, including London, Puerto Rico, Mexico, The Bahamas, Las Vegas, Nova Scotia, Florida with their grandchildren, and many more. Marie enjoyed all their trips but her favorite activity on these trips was gambling. She could find a casino wherever they went, and she could be there for hours. Marie loved arts and crafts and enjoyed painting nature scenes. She loved to sit outside and take in everything around her, especially the flowers and the birds.
She is predeceased by her parents; her brother Harold; and her two sisters, Christine and Elaine.
She is survived by her husband, Moe; her children, Michael Garneau, Desiree Garneau, and Donna Dubois; her sisters Ruth Dawley from Charleston, RI, Patricia Duval from Coventry, RI, and Margaret Hunt from Woonsocket, RI; her brother, Charles Hunt from Warwick, RI; five grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and her beloved dog and faithful companion, Fez.
