Windsor, VT – Marie “Mary” Josephine Lea Vincent Olmstead Davis, 100, died on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Stoughton House in Windsor, VT. She died peacefully with her daughter by her side. She was born in Etna, NH, the fourth child of Albondius P. and Adrienne (LaPorte) Vincent. As one of the elder siblings, she helped to care for the younger children. She graduated from Hartford High School and was married to Chester “Chet” Olmstead on February 4, 1946. At first, they lived in the family home, though a short time later they moved a few miles away where she continued to help care for the youngest of her siblings. Mary was a proud mom to her two children and worked as a bookkeeper for multiple businesses in the Upper Valley over the years.
Mary enjoyed spending time at their camps, fishing, and snowmobiling. She and Chet loved to go dancing and roller skating and she enjoyed the scenery from the back of their Honda motorcycle. They became snowbirds, spent summers in Hartland, and enjoyed attending seafood festivals and fishing along the creek shores during the winter months in Florida. Chet died in 1998 and a few years later she met and married Lloyd Davis in Florida. The two lived in Florida full time until Lloyd’s death in 2015 where she returned to the Upper Valley to be closer to her family. She continued to drive and live independently well into her mid-90s, though moved to Stoughton House in Windsor when she needed some additional care.
Mary was fun loving and enjoyed playing cards and board games, putting together puzzles, reading novels, oil painting, and bowling. Mary also had a love for fishing, camping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary made over 200 quilts for babies and lap blankets along cushions and pillows while also making wind socks out of plastic canvas. Later in life Mary enjoyed playing dominoes and bingo with her friends and family.
She is survived by two children Dorothy “Dottie Mae” Kendall and husband Paul of Hartland, VT and Joe Olmstead of Wilder, VT; five siblings Daniel Vincent of Chandler, AZ, Robert Vincent of Hartland, VT, Andrew Vincent of Lebanon, NH, John Vincent of Arizona, and Lawrence Vincent of Florida; daughter-in-law Deborah Olmstead of Kansas; five grandchildren Danielle Bird (Jimmy), Doreen Guillette (Peter), Dawn Flanders (Frank), Joe Olmstead, Jr. (Bailey), and Nicole “Nikki” Cutler (Carl); thirteen great grandchildren, with many other extended family, and friends.
