WINDSOR, VT
Marguerite M. "Maggie" Silloway, 89, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Tuesday morning, March 17 at her home in Windsor.
She was born July 10, 1925 in St. Johns, Newfoundland the daughter of Michael and Maud (Hickey) Moore. She received her schooling in Newfoundland. As a young lady, she was employed at Reader's Digest in the graphic design department. She moved to the United States in April of 1955 and married Harry A. Silloway on July 2, 1955 in Windsor.
She later was employed as a store clerk at the former IGA and P&C in Windsor until her retirement in 1978. Maggie was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the American Legion Post #25 Auxiliary in Windsor. She was fond of reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and watching the television game show "Jeopardy" daily. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mr. Silloway passed away on October 18, 2001. She was also predeceased by one brother, Harry Moore and two sisters, Helen Snide and Agnes McGregor.
Survivors include two daughters, Paula Hebert and her husband, Tim of Windsor, and Deborah Davis and her husband, John of Post Falls, ID, one son, E. Peter Silloway and his wife, Beverly of Las Vegas, NV, four grandchildren, Thomas Walt III of Dumfries, VA, Erik Walt of Spokane, WA, Michael Walt of Hayden, ID and Ryan Hebert of Windsor, eight great grandchildren, one brother, James Moore of Hamilton, Ontario, several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Silloway's request there will be no visiting hours. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, March 23 at 1:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Raphael Nyabenda, Pastor will be the celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church hall. Committal services will be held in the spring in the St. Francis Cemetery in Windsor.
