WINDSOR, VT
Margaret A. "Peg" Swinyer, 72, a resident of Cornish, NH passed away Thursday afternoon, July 1 at her son's home in Windsor.
She was born July 21, 1937 in Northfield, Vermont the daughter of Douglas and Beatrice (Shea) Matheson. She received her schooling in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School in 1955. She married Carl Swinyer in Northfield Falls in June of 1956. They were later divorced. She was employed at Vermont Life Insurance Company in Montpelier and moved to Windsor in 1960. She was employed by the Windsor School District working with the school luncheon program at State Street School and Windsor High School for several years. She most recently worked at Thermal Dynamics in Lebanon, NH for thirty years until her retirement in 2004.
She was a member of the VFW, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rachel S. Harlow United Methodist Church in Windsor. She enjoyed reading, and spending summers at Mascoma Lake. She was an avid New York Yankees fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was fond of attending sporting events to watch her children and grandchildren participate and coach. She was fond of collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia and loved her golden retriever, "Molly".
She was predeceased by two sons, Steven Carl Swinyer and Ronald T. Swinyer, two brothers, John Matheson and Frank Matheson, and one sister, Dolly Abar.
Survivors include, one son, Donald S. Swinyer and his wife Delner Pilar of Windsor, twin daughters, Lori Collins and her husband Michael of Cornish, NH, and Linda Kentfield and her husband Jim of Windsor, four grandchildren, Justin Swinyer of Newport, NH, Cassidy Swinyer of Unity, NH, Mikayla Collins of Cornish, NH and Connor Collins of Cornish, NH, her longtime companion, Kenneth Boudro of Enfield, NH, one brother, Robert Matheson of Northfield, VT, six sisters, Laurel Gaboriault of Barre, VT, Joan Lemire of Brownsville, VT, Helen Slocum of Roxbury, VT, Francine Eurbin of Lancaster, CA, Sandy Stearns of Windsor, VT and Lorraine O'Grady of Cornish, NH, many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Monday evening, July 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.
