Obituary

WINDSOR, VT Margaret H. (Foote) Righi, 81, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Tuesday morning, December 15th at Cedar Hill Continuing Care Community in Windsor, VT. She was born May 27, 1934 in North Adams, Massachusetts the daughter of Edward and Mildred Foote. She graduated from Drury High School in North Adams, MA. She later earned her nursing degree (Registered Nurse) from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield, MA. Margaret married Angelo Righi in North Adams on November 22, 1956. During her nursing career she worked at Springfield Hospital and Mt. Ascutney Hospital, but spent most of her professional life at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, NH and Alice Peck Day Hospital in Lebanon, NH before retiring in 1996. Margaret was a true 'people person' and caregiver, well-liked and appreciated by friends, family, co-workers, and patients. Like her husband, she was an advocate for higher education and encouraging young people to reach their fullest potential. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and taking them out to dine. Margaret was also an avid reader and enjoyed sharing her love of reading with her children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Angelo Righi, and by her 5 brothers, Robert, Wesley, Edward, Peter, and David Foote. Survivors include her three sons, David Righi and his wife, Lyssa of Phoenix, AZ, Paul Righi and his wife, Nan of Brattleboro, VT and Peter Righi and his wife, Mayka of Bowie, MD, two daughters, Linda Quinlan and her husband, Peter of Windsor, VT and Susan Hamel and her husband, Gregg of Swampscott, MA, fourteen grandchildren, Alexander, Carter and Graham Righi, John, Sam, Kirtley and Bobby Righi, Andrew, Julian and Sebastian Righi, Luke and Joseph Quinlan, and Michael and Rachel Hamel, as well as several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor. The Rev. Thomas Mosher will be the Celebrant. A reception for family and friends will follow in the church hall. Committal services will be held in the spring in the Village Cemetery in Readsboro, VT. Memorial contributions may be made to the Angelo and Margaret Righi Scholarship Fund at Windsor High School, c/o Tim Hebert, 19 Ascutney Street, Windsor, VT 05089 or to the Angelo and Margaret Righi Scholarship Fund at Stevens High School, c/o Anita Engel, 175 Broad Street, Claremont, NH 03743 to be annually awarded to a graduating senior of both Windsor High School and Stevens High School.
