ASCUTNEY, VT
Margaret A. "Peggy" Snyer, 73, a former resident of Ascutney, passed away Monday morning, February 6 at the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor where she has resided for the past ten years.
She was born October 3, 1938 in Newton, MA the daughter of William J. and Avora E. (Akerley) Walsh. She received her schooling in Waltham, MA. She married George B. Snyer in Hopkinton, MA in 1954. She was a former member of the United Church of Christ in Framingham, MA. She and her husband moved to Ascutney in 1980. She was a member of the Connecticut River Grange in Ascutney. She attended St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and the accordion. Margaret was proud to have published a book based on poems and stories that she had written, entitled "Prayer Poems and Short Stories". Mr. Snyer passed away in 1987.
She was also predeceased by two sons, George Snyer and Paul Snyer, three brothers, John Walsh, William Walsh and Peter Walsh, and by two sisters, Sarah Walsh and Jenne Coyle, and her companion of ten years, James Keefe.
Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl Ann Snyer of Acton, MA, two sisters, Mary Claire Sewell of Benton, ME and Linda Merrill of Framingham, MA, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Friday evening, February 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Raphael Nyabenda, Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor, officiating. Committal services will be held in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney in the spring.
