Margaret Adelia Kelly Fortier, died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 26, 2023. She lived most of her 99 years in the town of Hartford and more specifically in Hartford Village.

On June 22nd 1940, she married Ralph Lawrence Fortier and they settled and raised their 3 children in Hartford Village. She worked at the Woolen Mill in Hartford until it closed and then worked as a housekeeper for several years. Upon retirement she did extensive volunteer work in the upper valley, including the Prouty, Glory Days of the Railroad and passing her love of reading to children in the White River School's reading program.

She greatly enjoyed camping trips with her family, blackberry brandy, and watching sunrises and sunsets in the home her family still lives in today. Her favorite place to vacation was Cape Cod.

She leaves behind daughters, Patricia Johnston her husband, Harold of Chuckey TN, Barbara LaBounty her husband, Clayton of N. Ft Myers, FL., Greg Johnston of Chelsea, VT, Liz Johnston of Chuckey, TN, Carol and Mark Devins of Hartford, VT. Other grandchildren include Jeff Labounty, Suzanne Konners, Jason Fortier, Brooke Ortiz, Kirk Fortier and Zachary Fortier. She was blessed with great grandchildren that were able to be involved in her life, Amanda and John Pendleton, Casey and Robert Knudsen, Brian and Abbi Devins-Suresh, Daniel and Colleen Devins, Allison and Roman Ammirato. She had 5 great great grandchildren. She is survived by other great grandchildren and various nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph, sisters, Ruth Maynard, Grace Oldenburg, brothers, Leo and Francis Kelly, son, Gordon Fortier, granddaughter, Susan Johnston and great grandchildren, Joel Cornwell and Heather Labounty.

There will be no calling hours but a celebration of life at Greater Hartford United Church of Christ on Sat., Feb 4th from 2-4PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bugbee Senior Center.
