WEATHERSFIELD, VT
Lynn Marie Skalaban, 68, a resident of Weathersfield, passed away Wednesday morning, August 12 at her home in Weathersfield surrounded by her husband of 49 years, Peter, and their daughter Alexis.
She was born June 29, 1947 in New Brunswick, NJ the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Hoover) Korsak. She lived in East Brunswick, NJ where she graduated from East Brunswick High School in 1965. Her childhood was greatly influenced by her loving grandmother "Nana" Hoover and her Aunt Bernice (Hoover) Kobezak. She started her career working as an Accounting Assistant at the New Brunswick Trust Company and the County of Middlesex.
Lynn moved with her family to Vermont in 1972, where she has resided ever since. Her professional career continued in Vermont where she worked for the National Census Bureau as an Employment Analyst and Interviewer. Most recently she was elected to the position of Zoning Administrator for the Town of Weathersfield; a position that she held for over seventeen years until her retirement.
On the non-professional side, Lynn had many interests that were deeply rooted in her love of her adopted home in Weathersfield, VT. She was a Big Sister with Big Brothers and Sisters, active in the local Democratic Party where she served as a regional delegate, and active member of the League of Women's Voters, and was elected and served multiple terms on the Weathersfield School Board.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Peter Skalaban, Sr., of Weathersfield, one daughter, Alexis Skalaban of Weathersfield, one son, Peter Skalaban, Jr., of Reston, VA, two grandsons, Zachary and James Skalaban of Reston, VA, her stepmother, Joan Korsak of Spotswood, NJ, one sister, Susan Kafka of East Brunswick, NJ, five brothers, Andrew Rice of East Brunswick, NJ, Barry Korsak of Monroe, NJ, Wally Korsak of Spotswood, NJ, Brian Korsak of Spotswood, NJ and Daniel Korsak of Sacramento, CA, several nieces and nephews.
Lynn touched many lives and earned the highest respect from all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 10 at 11:00 AM at the Weathersfield Center First Congregational Church at 79 Center Church Road in Weathersfield Center, VT with the Rev. Will Hunter, Pastor, officiating.
The Knight Funeral Home in Windsor assisted with the arrangements.
