Wilder, Vermont-
Lynette Grace Esdon, 83, died peacefully in her home in Wilder on Wednesday November 23, 2011. Lynette was born in Greensboro Bend, Vermont July 21, 1928, the daughter of George Morton and Ada Rosanna (Hill) Esdon. She grew up in Greensboro Bend and later in East Hardwick. After graduating with a B.S. from Johnson State College in 1946 she spent the next 44 years teaching first and second grade children; one year in Middlefield, CT, 17 years in Bridgewater, VT and 26 years in the White River Junction elementary school.
Lynette also started teaching Sunday School as a young teenager and continued to teach for over 60 years. After retiring from teaching she returned to the White River school as a library aide. After budget cuts eliminated her position she continued to help as a volunteer.
The Pregnancy Center in West Lebanon also experienced Lynette's giving nature as she volunteered for several years with the newsletter distribution. She was a member of the Lebanon Assembly of God where she donated her time with Sunday School, Children's church and various women's ministry functions.
Lynette enjoyed recording books on tape through the Assemblies of God Center for the Blind and supported children through the Latin America Childcare ministries. She donated shoeboxes for the Samaritan's Purse projects and gave generous financial support to missionaries. In addition she loved to garden and she enjoyed camping, especially with her niece, Grace.
Lynette is predeceased by her mother, father, step-mother, Florence (Parks) Esdon, and two sisters, Rachel Esdon and Ruth Coutermarsh. She leaves behind her brother, Robert E. Esdon of Charlestown, three nephews and four nieces, one great-nephew and four great-nieces; Sheila Coutermarsh of Wilder, Cheryl Coutermarsh and her daughter Emily of Enfield, NH, Brian Coutermarsh, his wife Joan and their children Hannah and Nathan of Bethany, CT, Gary Coutermarsh of Enfield, NH James Esdon, his wife Leann and their daughters Meaghan and Claire of Claremont, NH, and Grace Esdon of Charlestown, NH.
A memorial service will be held Sunday December 11th at 1PM at the Lebanon Assembly of God Church in Lebanon, NH with Pastor Joel McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardwick, VT a later date. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
