Obituary

Lyme, NH - Luther "Luke" J. Fletcher, 84, died Monday December 6th at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born October 4, 1926 in White River Jct., VT a son of Maurice and Florence (Gibbs) Fletcher. Luke grew up in the White River Jct. area and graduated from Hartford High School. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in Cuba during the later part of World War II. After returning from his military service he worked as a lineman with the Boston & Maine Railroad for many years. He later worked as an electrician with Cody Electric before working at Dartmouth College until his retirement in the early 1990's. Mr. Fletcher has resided in Lyme with the love of his life, Barbara Sprague for over twenty years.

Luke was an avid outdoorsman who especially loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed dancing, bowling, golf, reading and playing cards.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 22 and the B.P.O.Elks #2099 both in Lebanon. He was also a past member of the Lebanon Eagles.

He is predeceased by a daughter Rebecca Fletcher Senna, a brother Lauris Fletcher, and a granddaughter Eva.

He leaves his longtime companion Barbara Sprague of Lyme; children, Jay Fletcher and his wife Betty of Lafayette, LA, Elaine Small and her husband Ernest of Hartland and John Fletcher and his wife Koni of White River Jct.; step children Lucinda Sprague and her husband Brian Wright of Lebanon and Dale Sprague and his wife Kendra of New Durham, NH; grandchildren, Katie, George, Trever, Luther, Kristy, John J., Lindsay and Danny; great-grandchildren Brandon, Stephen, Kassady, Elizabeth, Kenneth, Landon, Lawson & Owen; brothers Carleton Fletcher and his wife Beverly of Tavares, FL and Donald Fletcher and his wife Joan of Sun City Center, FL as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 215 N Main St VAMC and Roc, White River Jct., VT 05009.
