White River Jct., VT – Lucy M. Berry, 72, died after a long illness, Thursday morning, March 17, 2016 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Jct., VT. She was born May 9, 1943 in Lancaster, NH the daughter of Andrew J. and Mildred (Cummings) Congdon.

Lucy graduated from Lancaster High School and from the Hanover School of Nursing in 1963. She worked for a time at Mary Hitchcock before she was married to Raymond H. "Skip" Berry on November 6, 1965 in Lancaster, NH and continued working at the Hospital for a time after they were married. They lived in West Lebanon before moving to White River Jct., VT in 1970. She was a stay at home mom until her boys reached grade school when she started working part time at K-mart in West Lebanon, NH. Her job turned into full time employment and she continued working at Kmart for the next twenty years. She retired as Personnel Manager. Mr. Berry died July 11, 1993. After his death Lucy returned to school for massage therapy and practiced for several years before retiring.

She was a former Cub Scout leader, a member of St. Anthony's Church in White River Jct., VT as well as a member of a local knitting club. Lucy loved to knit, watch her grandchildren's sporting and school events, bowl with her husband, and camping in Maine.

Lucy is survived by two sons, Kevin M. Berry and his wife Rachel of Roslindale, MA, Brian T. Berry and his wife Lesley of Claremont, NH; four grandchildren, Alexis, Timothy, Grace and Jacob Berry; a sister, Ann Lavers, and her husband Richard, of Falmouth, MA as well as several nephews and a niece

Visiting hours will be held Monday evening, March 21 from 6-8PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning, March 22, at 11:00AM at Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon, NH. Burial will follow in the West Lebanon Cemetery.
