White River Jct., VT – Lucille Ann St. Jean Spaulding, 80, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born August 26, 1934 in Lebanon, NH the daughter of Edward and Yvonne (Jette) St. Jean. She grew up and attended school in Lebanon, NH until her family moved to White River Jct. She graduated from Hartford High School shortly after starting her long career as a switch board operator for New England Telephone Company. Lucille married George "Shorty" Spaulding Jr. on May 7, 1955 in Norwich, VT. They made there home in Wilder and White River Jct., VT. Mr. Spaulding died March 12, 1990. Lucille retired from the telephone company after thirty plus years of service.

She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and jig saw puzzles. Lucille was a creature of habit. She was one of the regulars at the Crossroads Restaurant in White River Jct. and a daily visitor at the Cumberland Farms Store in Wilder where she bought her newspaper. She also loved playing cards, and visiting with her neighbors. She will be remembered as a "Spunky little Spit Fire"

Lucille was predeceased by her husband and her son, Michael.

She is survived by two sons, Craig Spaulding of Enfield, NH, Steven A. Spaulding of White River Jct., VT, three daughters, Donna L. Spaulding of West Windsor, VT, Barbara J. Spaulding of White River Jct., Sandra M. Spaulding of White River Jct., ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four sisters, Betty Merrihew of Lebanon, NH, Gloria Merrihew of Lebanon, NH, Barbara St. Jean of Nashua, NH, Theresa Granger of Deerfield, NH as well as many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held Friday evening, January 16, from 6-8 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17 at 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in White River Jct., VT.
