White River Junction, VT – Lucille Margaret Follensbee, 95, surrounded with the love and in the company of her family, died on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Margaret Pratt Community in Bradford, VT. On September 28, 1929, she was born the 8th child of 15 to Albondius P. and Adrienne (LaPorte) Vincent in Hartford, VT. Her parents immigrated from Canada and until she was in school, only spoke Québécois French. She was an apt student and won the Business and Professional Women's and the Becker Junior College Award at Hartford High School.

During the fall of 1951, she met Ronald Follensbee on a Grange hayride, and they married on February 4, 1952, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Together, they raised seven children. It was important to Lucille that her children learned the skills they needed to be successful adults and contributors to their community. So, from an early age, they learned to contribute and be versatile in their skills. She taught them to cook, clean, do laundry, sew, and be independent. As a family, they built three homes by hand. Through all these endeavors, not only did they raise their children to be fiercely independent, but they also taught them how to collaborate with others to accomplish goals.

Each summer, Lucille and Ronald would go on vacation, often to Quebec City or the Maine coast, but for their 25th wedding anniversary, to Hawaii. For 32 years in retirement, the pair spent half the year in Florida and the other half of the year in their camper, hosting their grandchildren and enjoying the many campgrounds in Vermont.

A love of flowers was a continuing theme in her life, from her first job at Vermont Cut Flowers, to lovingly creating floral arrangements for all the big moments in her children's lives, and tending many expansive and beautiful flower gardens.

She is survived by her husband Ronald Follensbee of Bradford, VT; seven children David Follensbee and wife Catherine of Hartland, VT, Dennis Follensbee and wife Vincenza of Claremont, NH, Duane Follensbee and wife Terry of Lebanon, NH, Rhonda McMahon and husband Steven of Somersworth, NH, Dana Follensbee and wife Joanne of Hartland, Darryl Follensbee and wife Lorene of Bradford, and Dr. Billie Follensbee and husband Perry Elkins of Springfield, MO; five siblings Mary J. Davis of Windsor, VT, Daniel E. Vincent of Chandler, AZ, Robert J. Vincent of Hartland, VT, Andrew A. Vincent of Lebanon, NH, John A. Vincent of Arizona and Lawrence B. Vincent of Florida; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by siblings Juliette, Peter, Noel, Eulalia (Susie), Paul, Francis, Laurette, and Alice.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 4 until 6 pm at Knight Funeral Home, White River Junction, VT. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in White River Junction, burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
