IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucille Elaine
Demers
March 18, 1927 – February 11, 2023
Lucille died peacefully at home Saturday morning, February 11, 2023 after a full life. She was born at her childhood home in Lebanon, NH on March 18, 1927 to William and Amelia Bomhower, and left us just a month shy of what would have been her 96 th birthday.
She graduated from Lebanon High School 1946. She met her husband, Phil on a senior trip to Hampton Beach. They had both coincidentally used the same quote in their yearbooks: "speech is silver, silence is golden." They were married on August 25, 1949, and were together for 61 years. She enjoyed working side by side with Phil on his many building projects and they continued yearly trips to Hampton Beach for their anniversary. Lucille continued those yearly trips until 2020.
Lucille was a stay-at-home mom for their two children, William and Marie, and later cared for her 5 grandchildren. She gave them every minute of her time, often holding them as they napped, watching as they played, and being sure they ate many cookies under her loving care. She enjoyed going to the local events including: fairs, the Shriners Parade and game, The Hartford High School Basketball games (thank you, Greg!) the Big Apple Circus, Monday Night band concerts, and the Lebanon Opera House performances. She spent endless hours on her front porch watching animals and people pass by.
She loved connecting with people, and sending out thoughtful cards for birthdays, events, and growing her Christmas card list to 150 over many years. She welcomed everyone with a warm smile and open arms. She was always upbeat, enthusiastic, lived simply and never complained. She enjoyed playing cards and chatting with those who visited, a candy dish always present. A special thank you to Steve and Molly who faithfully visited her weekly over the past few years, and all others who took the time to stop by and visit. Her love, laughter and easy company will be missed by many.
Lucille is predeceased by her husband, Phil. She is survived by her son, William (Kathie) of Lebanon, NH; daughter, Marie Alvin of White River Jct., VT; grandchildren, Beth Demers, Nicole Demers, Jennelle Alvin, Joseph Alvin, Jonathan Alvin, and great grandchildren, Rowen Hall and Tyler Martin.
No services will be held, in accordance with her wishes to "not make a fuss." Honor her memory by spending time with a loved one, hanging a bird feeder, or enjoying some chocolate kisses and an extra cookie. For those inclined, please donate to the Lebanon Opera House or Bugbee Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.
As she would often say, "Thanks for the memories!"
