WINDSOR, VT
Lucian L. Lemery, Sr., 87, a longtime resident of Windsor passed away Friday morning, July 1 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was born September 16, 1923 in East Granville, Vermont the son of Lucius E. and Merle (Eddy) Lemery. He received his schooling in Waterbury, VT and graduated from Waterbury High School in 1942. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army in the European Theater Artillery Division as a Master Sergeant. He married Eleanor J. Lizzari in Waterbury on August 28, 1947. He was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Army in Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1952, he returned to Moretown, VT, until relocating to Windsor in 1964 to continue working as a Maintenance Foreman for Johnson and Johnson Talc Company in West Windsor. He retired in 1982.
Mr. Lemery was a life member and past exalted ruler of the Windsor Elks Lodge #1665, a member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25 and the VFW. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed reading. He especially was fond of spending time with his family. Mr. and Mrs. Lemery had spent the winter months in Plant City, FL for over twenty years until 2004. Mrs. Lemery passed away on April 13, 2007.
He was also predeceased by two brothers, Edward Lemery and Roger Lemery, and two sisters, Lucille Morse and Barbara Shanio.
Survivors include one son, Lucian L. Lemery, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Windsor, two daughters, Linda R. Whitcomb and her husband, Roger of Windsor, and Robin A. Scully of Windsor, six grandchildren, James Whitcomb, Jennifer Bruce, Jason Scully, Kate Sohngen, Lucian L. Lemery, III and Danielle Kinny, three great grandchildren, Edison Sohngen, Olivia Sohngen and Madison Jarvis, one brother, Richard Lemery of Waterbury, VT, one sister Marion Germana of Waterbury, VT and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, July 8 at 1:00 PM at the Windsor Elks Lodge at 156 Main Street beginning with an Elks service.
