Strafford, Vermont – Louise Dalrymple, 96, died Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2013 at Genesis Healthcare in Lebanon, NH. She was born May 7, 1916 in Vershire, VT the daughter of James and Mae Lyford. Louise grew up and attended school in Vershire. In 1932 she was married to Frank E. Savery Sr. and they made their home in Thetford Center, VT where they raised their three children. She and Frank divorced and in the mid 1950's she married Donald J. Dalrymple. They moved to Marboro, VT where she lived for many years. Following their divorce she returned to the Upper Valley and resided in White River Jct., VT on Taft Avenue. In 1990 she moved to Strafford to live with her oldest son Frank. Three years ago she fell and broke her hip and went to stay at Genesis.
Louise had been a member of the Rebekah's for over seventy five years, first with the West Fairlee Lodge and then for the longest period with the White River Lodge. She will be loved and remembered for the countless gifts of hand knitted mittens, gloves, hats and other garments that she shared with family and friends throughout her many years. Louise enjoyed working on word search puzzles and loved to sit by the window watching the many birds. She could identify and name each species that came to visit her feeders.
She was predeceased by her two former husbands, a daughter, Alice Jane Savery Bassett and a grandson, Ronald Savery. Louise is survived by her two sons, Frank E. Savery Jr and his wife Barbara of Strafford, VT, James "Jim" A. Savery of Hartford, CT, a sister, Emma Lyford, twelve grandchildren, many great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Saturday afternoon, January 12, from 2-4PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. Funeral services, including services by the Rebecca's, will be held at 4PM immediately following calling hours. Burial will be held later in the springtime in the Marlboro Cemetery in Marlboro, VT.
