Louis P. LaBelle

White River Jct., VT – Louis P. LaBelle, 66, died suddenly on Monday November 26, 2018 in Lexington, VA while traveling home from his son's wedding.

He was born September 7, 1952 in Lebanon, NH a son of Daniel and Mary (Spaulding) LaBelle. Louis spent his youth between Meriden, NH and Hartford, VT.   He attended St. Johnsbury Academy for a time before graduating from Hartford High School.  After graduation he entered the US Marine Corps, serving from 1972 to 1976 in Japan and the Philippines.  Following his discharge from the Marine Corps he enlisted in the Vermont National Guard and was once again called to active duty to serve in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.  He later retired from the Guard after over twenty years of service to his country.

When he returned home from the Marine Corps, Louis was married to Roxanne Currier July 4,1981 and they made their home and raised their three children in White River Jct., VT.  He began his twenty five year career with Facilities Operation and Maintenance at Dartmouth College before retiring due to poor health.

Louis was long time active member of the Twin State Detachment of the Marine Corp League and more recently was a member of Healing Waters, a fly tying veteran's organization and the Hartford Rod and Gun Club.  He also enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Big Averill Lake in Norton, VT.

He is survived by his wife, Roxanne; daughter Courtney LaBelle Potter and her partner Jared Shaw all of White River Jct.; sons Bradley LaBelle and his partner Rebecca Sarazin of Orford, NH and Tyler LaBelle and wife Sarah of Charlotte, NC; grandsons Jamie and Ethan; granddaughter Addison; brothers Timothy LaBelle of Claremont, NH, John LaBelle of Missouri and Daniel LaBelle of Arkansas; sisters Annette Stevens of Maine, Ellen Woods of Lebanon, NH and Joan Henault of Claremont, NH; brother in law Al Currier and many nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by a brother James LaBelle.

A memorial service will be held at the Vermont Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
