Obituary

Norwich, VT – Louis P. Dupuis, 76, died Saturday March 31st at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, NH.

He was born in Salem, MA, in 1936, a son of Lucien L. and Rachel M. (Lavoie) Dupuis. Louis attended St. Joseph's Elementary School in Salem and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Lynn, MA in 1954 before attending Merrimack College in North Andover, MA where he earned his Bachelors degree. During college he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served for four years. After college he joined the US Navy where he served two tours on the USS Shangri-la aircraft carrier and was also stationed in San Juan, PR; Pearl Harbor; Alameda, CA; and the Naval Intelligence School in Denver, CO. After retiring from active duty in 1970, Mr. Dupuis continued serving in the reserves, until retiring as a commander after 29 years of service.

Upon returning to civilian work, Mr. Dupuis settled in Marblehead, MA and worked as a production manager for various firms, including Teradyne in Boston. After retiring, the Dupuis' moved to Norwich, VT where they have lived since 2006.

Louis enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking and especially enjoyed time spent at the family farm in Acworth, NH. He was involved in various community organizations including the Upper Valley Community Grange and the Lyman Pell American Legion in Norwich.

He is survived by his wife Annah (Batchelder) Dupuis of Norwich; a daughter Emily Kirk of Boxboro, MA; two sons Michel Dupuis and his wife Anna-Lisa of Marblehead, MA; and Geoffrey Craig and his wife Sarah Flynn of Bradford, MA; as well as two granddaughters Allora Craig and Hannah Kirk.

A memorial service will be held at the Upper Valley Community Grange Thursday April 5th at 4PM. Interment will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. A gathering of family and friends will be held on April 28th at 2pm at Michel's home at 39 Storybrook Rd, Marblehead, MA. Interment will take place in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
