Lorraine Edith Hobbs, 86, Formerly of Reading, VT died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction, VT.
She was born March 13, 1927 in Newington, CT, the daughter of Emile and Amelia (Peltier) Valancourt. She attended school in Hartford, CT after graduating from High School she went work for a time. She was married David Hobbs August 3, 1957 in Rockville, CT were they lived until 1964 when they moved to Springfield, VT to be closer to David's family. In the late 60's she went to work for Fellow Gear Shaper in Springfield as a machinist retiring in 1985. They moved to Reading in 1972 where she lived until 2009 when she moved to Claremont.
Lorraine is a former member of the Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to spend time dancing, playing cribbage, and bowling and was known to enjoy singing from time to time. But she enjoyed spending time with family the most.
She is predeceased by her husband David Hobbs, a daughter, Darlene Stein, and a brother Raymond Valancourt.
She is survived by a daughter Lynda Thurber of Lempster, NH, a son Raymond Hobbs of Norwich, VT, four grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service at the convenience of the family.
