Lois J. Brackett

Sharon, VT - Lois Jane Brackett passed away peacefully with family at her side on Saturday, June 21st at the Brookside Nursing Home in White River Junction, Vt. at the age of 86.

Lois was born in Portland, Maine on August 7, 1927, the daughter of Leona (Towle) and Paul Morong. She attended Portland schools and lived for a time on Peaks Island in Casco Bay where she married the love of her life, William Randolph (Ranny) Brackett in 1947. Over the years, Lois lived in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont as Ranny worked as a master mechanic helping to build the interstate highways in Northern New England. She enjoyed retirement years with her husband in Florida and Sharon, Vt., until his death in 2006.

Lois was a dedicated homemaker, wife and mother of two children. She is survived by her daughter Susan (and her husband David) Norman of Grantham, NH, her son William (and his wife Pamela) Brackett of Sharon, VT, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two sisters: Calista Jones of Myerstown, Pa. and Helen Parmenter of Whitefield, Me. She was predeceased by her brother Paul Morong of Arizona.

A graveside service will be held at the Pine Hill Cemetery in Sharon, VT at 2:00pm on Friday, June 27th where her ashes will be placed beside those of her late husband.
