Obituary

Vershire, VT- Lisa Marie Smith passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, May, 9 2022 after a long battle with COPD. Born February 21, 1963. Raised in the Upper Valley. She graduated from Lebanon High School.

Lisa loved life, her family, her dogs, and gardening. One of Lisa's notable qualities was her love to cook and feed people, making sure no one ever left hungry. After years of waitressing, she put her love for cooking to the test by opening and operating her own restaurant Lee's Family Restaurant in East Thetford the late 1990s with great success for many years. After a tough choice of closing the restaurant, she then decided to open The Vershire General Store. The store was another great success for her as her homemade meals in the deli shined bright with customers coming from other towns to see her smiling face. Years later after closing the store, Lisa's passion for making people happy with food was still there she worked as the head cook for the Brookhaven boys home in Chelsea and then at the Chelsea Senior Center serving the community. Her second passion was her dogs, for 30 years she was able to share that joy with her AKC German Shepherd kennel. With many of the pups over the years going to K9 police departments as well as the search & rescue teams throughout New England and New York State.

But her biggest passion, and accomplishment in life was her family. After meeting her love of her life, John, they raised two amazing boys, watching them grow and having family's of their own. Becoming a grandmother (Mammi) was the purest joy in her life. She was by John's side through the years with the family-owned excavating and trucking company with helping in the office on bookkeeping or in a dump-truck driving. Lisa was a superwoman of many traits and with be very much missed by her family and friends.

She is predeceased by her sister, Eileen Burgess, brother, Keith LaFountain, Jr., and her in laws. Lawrence & Hilda Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, John L. Smith. Son, Mark & wife, Jessica with granddaughter, Josephine. Son, Kyle & his partner, Chelsea Parker. Parents, Bernard and Shirley Kenyon. Sister, Koreen Bennett. Nieces, Olivia Bennett, Seana & Alexi Silas, Ashley Ayotte and nephew, Brian LaFountain. Aunt, Barbara Kilburn. With many many more nieces and nephews on Smith side. And close friends over the years that meant a lot to Lisa and the family.
