CHESTER, VT—Lisa Jean Hill, 51, died from stage IV lung cancer early Thursday morning at 1:30am November 21, 2019 at her daughter's home in Springfield, VT. Lisa was born April 11, 1968 in Beaufort, South Carolina, the daughter of Carleton George Murphy, Sr. and Sylvia Ann (Coderre) Murphy.

Her father was a military man, so as a child and teenager they lived in several locations, until her family settled in Windsor, Vermont. Lisa attended Windsor High School, and became a young mother and gave birth to her daughter, first child, Felicia Ann (Gassert) Vezina in 1986. She worked to provide at Split Ball Bearing in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Four years later Lisa gave birth to her second child, a son, Jon Gassert, Jr. in 1990. She worked hard and took care of her children and always made sure they had a nice home. Lisa always considered herself a southern belle being born in the south, but raised her children and settled in Vermont and made her life in the state she always called "home". She found and married her childhood sweetheart, Darl Gene Hill on February 14, 2004. Darl died August 22, 2017.

Lisa worked in home health care program through Aris and was proud to have been able to care for her mother, Sylvia, during her last years. Lisa always worked as a bartender at the Elks Lodge in Windsor, Vermont.

Lisa was dedicated to her family and friends and found her greatest joy in getting together with her family and friends, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved all animals, especially her dog, Jasmine, and Jasmine's mom, Sasha, and Lisa's daughter's dog, Mathyus! She trained Sasha and gave her back to her brother. Lisa enjoyed arts and crafts, country music, and loved owls and butterflies, it was what her and her daughter collected and had in common.

Lisa is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Robert Vezina of Springfield, Vermont. A son, Jon Gassert, Jr. of Illinois; grandchildren: Daniel and Liam Vezina of Springfield, VT; great grandchildren: Isaac Blanchard Vezina and Shayly Ann Holden Vezina of Springfield, VT; brothers, Carelton Murphy, Jr. of No. Springfield, VT, Timothy Murphy of Hartland, VT and sister, Tammy Allen of South Carolina. She was predeceased by a nephew, Carleton George Murphy III on September 25, 2019 and survived by many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her ex-husband, Jon Gassert, Sr. of Michigan.

A service will be held live on Facebook from Felicia's house at a later date. A celebration of life will be held next spring, April 11 (which would have been her 52 ^nd birthday) for a butterfly release.
