Linda J. (Anthony) Maitland, 61, of Guilford, Vermont, passed away Monday, October 2, after a sudden and tough fight with cancer. She was born in Wakefield, Massachusetts to the late Richard and Phyllis Anthony, and graduated from Westfield University in
1978.

Linda had a long career in the hotel and restaurant business. Some locations included the Steak Out, Brattleboro, Hyatt Hotels, Lake Tahoe & Greenwich, CT, The Embassy Suites, Salt lake City & Lake Tahoe, The Resort at Paws Up, Montana and until recently, Keene, New Hampshire Country Club. She met her husband, Dub Maitland, in
Brattleboro, Vermont in 1987, and they shared a love for travel and adventure.

They prided themselves on living in places that other people only dreamed of vacationing, and often took RV trips with their dogs to national parks, with Yellowstone being their favorite. After twenty-five years of living out West, Linda and Dub decided to move back to Vermont to be closer with their family and friends, most importantly, their niece and nephew, Julia and Charlie. She lived a fulfilling life, and made it her top priority that
everyone around her feel loved.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Dub Maitland, of Guilford. Her sister Carol Slaughter and her husband Doug, a nephew, Charlie Turner, and a niece, Julia Slaughter, all of Amherst, MA. She is also survived by her many cousins and dear friends, all of whom she adored and loved to spend time and laugh with.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 28th from 1 PM until 5 PM, at the Elks Lodge, 75 Putney Rd, Brattleboro, VT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor, to Dakin Humane Society (PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA, 01101) and Saint Joseph's Indian School (1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, South Dakota, 57325) supporting her love for animals and children.
