Wilder, VT – Linda Lee Hurd, 76, died at home with her husband and her daughter by her side on Sunday May 31, 2026.

She was born August 13, 1949, in Lebanon, NH a daughter of William and Arlene Dunbar and was raised by her grandparents Francis and Mabel Billingham. Linda grew up in White River Jct. and graduated from Hartford High School Class of 1967. She raised her children in the Cornish/Windsor area while helping to operate the family businesses, Raymond’s Market in Cornish and later Running Bear Campground in Ascutney. She was married to Norman Hurd April 26, 1985. They made a home in Cornish for a time and have lived in Wilder for the past 27 years. Linda attended the First Baptist Church of Meriden, NH for many years.

Linda began her career with Dartmouth in Cognitive Neuroscience before managing the Microbiology and Immunology Department, retiring due to disability in 2001. She attended Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester while working and earned her bachelor’s degree, an accomplishment she was very proud of.

She was a talented quilter and made many quilts that were cherished by her family. She enjoyed attending quilt shows and going on daily rides around the back roads of the Upper Valley with her husband singing their favorite songs at the top of their lungs along the way. She also enjoyed collecting items, particularly river stones, for his antler art.

Linda was a wonderful mother and kindhearted person. She lovingly cared for her son after an automobile accident left him permanently disabled. She will be remembered by her husband as the light of his world.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Leon, Larry, and Rodney Dunbar.

She leaves her husband of 41 years, Norman Hurd of Wilder, VT; a daughter, Amy Raymond of Lenoir, NC; son, Scott Raymond of Lyme, NH; and grandson Justin McFarland of Columbus, OH.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 6th from 2-4PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct. with a prayer service starting at 4PM. Condolences to Linda’s family may be made in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com
