Lewis W. LaHaye
White River Jct., VT – Lewis W. LaHaye, 79, died Thursday September 8, 2016 at Hanover Terrace Healthcare in Hanover, NH.
He was born May 15, 1937 in Lebanon, NH a son of Harry and Esther (Benjamin) LaHaye. Lewis attended Lebanon schools and later served in the US Army. After returning from his military service he worked for a time with his brother as a brick mason before beginning work as a truck driver at White River Paper Co. After retiring from the paper company, Lewis worked with his close friend, Mary Shatney, at the Polka Dot Restaurant helping with everything from cooking and maintenance to purchasing supplies.
Lewis enjoyed talking to people and was always up to date on current events in White River. In a recent article in the Valley News he was referred to as the "Mayor of White River Jct." He was past member of the White River Jct. American Legion and the Hartford Elks.
He is survived by his sisters Isabelle Boisvert of Lebanon and Roxanne Smith of Windsor as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents; sisters Catherine Gillen, Irene Gillen, Carolyn Currier and Beverly Joslyn; brothers John, Bill, Richard, Frank and Lafayette (Bobby) LaHaye.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday September 17th in the Glenwood Cemetery in Lebanon, NH
