Obituary

Meriden, NH- Leonard L. "Tim" Timmons, 94, died Wednesday, December 25, at Lebanon Center Genesis in Lebanon, NH following a brief illness.

Tim was born February 2, 1925 in East Ryegate, VT a son of Henry Howard and Olive (Santaw) Timmons. He grew up in White River Junction, VT and graduated from Hartford High School class of 1943.  He joined the US Army Air Forces, following training in Tennessee and Arizona he became a ball turret machine gunner on a B17 flying out of England completing 23 missions over Germany. Back home he met and married Susan Johnson. He operated Tim's Gulf Station on Maple Street in White River Junction from the mid 1950's until 1967. He also worked as an operator at the Wilder Dam. Finally moving to Meriden, NH in 1975, he went to work at Kimball Union Academy where he was the heating plant operator until retiring. He was also a antique dealer with his wife. They would buy and he would refinish the furniture and she would bring them to show to sell. They did this for over forty years refinishing hundreds  of pieces.

Tim loved growing Christmas Trees planting one hundred trees a year through the 80's and 90's.  He sold the trees for $15.00 each only by word of mouth selling 40-50 trees a year. Many families and neighbors came to get a tree each year it became a ritual and he enjoyed seeing them every year. Thank you to all the tree customers and friends, the neighbors in Meriden who helped watch over him for the last few months he was at home.
