WINDSOR, VT
Leona Mae Nichols, 80, a longtime resident of Windsor, passed away Monday morning, May 20, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born October 23, 1932 in North Concord, VT the daughter of Harland and Goldie (Baird) Lynaugh. She received her schooling in Concord, VT. She married Robert E. Nichols in St. Johnsbury, VT on May 12, 1952. They moved to Windsor in 1965. Mrs. Nichols loved being a wife and mother and enjoyed raising her family. She was fond of spending time with her family and loved her dog "Sally".
She was a member and Past Matron of the Ascutney Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star in Windsor.
She was predeceased by her husband on September 27, 2000. She was also predeceased by her parents, one brother, Archie Lynaugh and by three sisters, Viola McMan, Albertie Eldred and Irene Bishop.
Survivors include four daughters, Elaine Trimble of Gerton, NC, Sheryl Keaton of Burton, MI, Donna Galarreta of Rockville, MD and Christina Snell of St. Petersburg. FL, three sons, Arnold Nichols of Pomfret, VT, Edward Nichols of Knoxville, TN and Richard Nichols of Windsor, VT, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
An hour of visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Saturday, May 25 from 11:00 AM to Noon. The funeral service will begin at Noon, with the Rev. William Sheldon, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor. A reception for family and friends will follow in the Community Room at Windsor Village.
