Leara Rita King, 16, of Quechee, Vermont died on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. She was born on May 5, 2005, in White River Junction, Vermont to William "Bill" King and Penny (Seaver) King and attended school in the Upper Valley. She was currently enrolled in Hartford High School and loved all aspects of normal teenage high school life. She loved the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends playing sports, swimming, and playing music. Leara was a very talented artist. In all her actions, she always strived to be mindful of those around her, often extending thoughtful gestures when least expected. The special relationship with her baby sister grounded her and their bond was of the utmost importance to her.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Penny Seaver Lavertue and Scott of Quechee; her father, Bill King of West Lebanon, New Hampshire; four siblings, Zachary Stanley of White River Junction, Briana Smith and husband, Cody of Norwich, Marc Stanley of Norwich, Maya King of Quechee; and paternal grandmother, Jean M. Lincoln of Norton, MA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ryan Stanley in May 2021.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Cornerstone Community Center, 14 Elk St., Hartford, VT 05047 from 11 am until noon a service will follow at noon.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 10AM in the Taftsville Cemetery. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements.
