Hanover, NH—Lawrence H. "Larry" Hopkins, 81, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH.

Larry was born December 22, 1943, in Lebanon, NH to Dorothy (Johnson) Hopkins. Larry grew up in various towns throughout our region and graduated from Littleton High School. His passion for cooking led him to a fulfilling career in culinary arts. Larry worked for several years at the Mt. Washington Resort and went on to contribute his talents to various restaurants across Northern Vermont and New Hampshire. His journey eventually led him to South Carolina, where he continued to share his love of food at several local establishments.

In 1996, Larry returned north and settled in Hartland, VT where he met his partner, Evelyn Luce. The two quickly became close, bonding over their love of gardening and life's simple pleasures. After retiring, Larry moved Arizona for three years, before returning to the Upper Valley where he made Hanover his final home.

Larry loved gardening. He took great joy in nurturing flowers and creating beautiful spaces, always finding peace in the acts of weeding, planting, and tending to his garden. His meticulously groomed lawn brought him great pride. Larry also loved spending time with his friends and family, often enjoying evenings watching his favorite TV shows.

He is survived by his partner and close friend, Evelyn Perry-Luce; his son and daughter of California; his brother, Leonard Hopkins of Skowhegan, ME; his sister, Beverly Renaud of St. Johnsbury, VT; several nieces and nephews, and Evelyn's close friend, Barbara Graham.
