Larry Angell

Bellows Falls, VT - Lawrence Weston Angell, 89, died Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Springfield Health and Rehabilitation in Springfield, VT.

He was born April 12, 1937, in Claremont, NH, a son of Eugene and Lottie (Holden) Angell. Larry spent his early years in several towns as his family moved around the Upper Connecticut River Valley before settling in Bellows Falls. After graduating from Bellows Falls Union High School, he served in the Vermont National Guard for several years and began his career at Jones and Lamson as an electrical designer. He was married to Joan Skillin on October 1, 1966, and stick by stick they built a home together in Bellows Falls where they raised their son, Jason. After 28 years at J&L, he worked at Pneumo Precision in Keene, Vermont Machine Tool in Springfield and at Applied Bolting in Bellows Falls before retiring.

Larry loved his animals and had many cats and several dogs over the years. He was a talented photographer and enjoyed hiking in the hills and streams of the area to capture beautiful pictures. Larry was very handy and could fix just about anything and enjoyed tinkering and building things around the house. Through the years, he enjoyed several unique and interesting forms of transportation, such as an MG TD, Vespa scooter, BMW motorcycle and a Miata. In his younger years, he also enjoyed playing tennis, especially playing with his son. He was a person of great dedication and a strong sense of doing the right thing and completing things to the best of his ability. Larry never had an appointment that he wasn’t early for.

He leaves his wife of nearly sixty years, Joan, of Bellows Falls, his son, Jason Angell and his wife Karen of Lebanon, NH.

A graveside service will be held in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor, VT on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 2pm.
