WINDSOR, VT
Laura Eunice McAllister Farnsworth, 88, a longtime resident of the Windsor area, passed away Thursday morning, May 15 at the Cedar Hill Continuing Healthcare Center in Windsor.
She was born July 14, 1925 in Richford, VT the daughter of Aldis and Grace (Stowell) McAllister. She received her schooling in Richford. As a young lady, she was employed at the Windsor Diner in Windsor where she met Fredrick V. Farnsworth. They were married in Richford on February 7, 1946. She more recently was employed as a relief Postmaster in Ascutney for many years until her retirement.
She and her husband joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1966. They were longtime active members of the Ascutney Ward in Ascutney, VT. They had completed two missions for the church, one in Las Vegas, New Mexico and the other in Saco, Maine. They still have many friends in those areas and throughout the United States.
She was fond of quilting, crocheting, knitting and cooking, and was well known for her super yummy donuts. She enjoyed music and playing the piano and guitar for family sing-a-longs which provided hours of entertainment, and family memories.
Her beloved husband of sixty seven years, Fred, passed away on April 6, 2013. She was also predeceased by her parents, one son, Gary Farnsworth, and three brothers, Kenny, Geddy and Carl, and three sisters, Marion, Gert and Bertha.
Survivors include three sons, Daryl Farnsworth and his wife, Annette of Windsor, Brent Farnsworth and his wife, Alanna of Windsor and Ross Farnsworth and his wife, Cora of Cornish, NH, one daughter, Donna Clay and her husband, Richard of Barton, VT, Daughter-in-law Sharon Farnsworth of Titusville, FL, fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, one brother, Glenford McAllister and his wife, Ruth of Springfield, VT, three sisters, Irene Diamond and her husband, John of Port Charlotte, FL, Catheryn Hubbell of Essex, VT and Arlene Gurney and her husband, Donald of Springfield, VT, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening, May 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ascutney. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 20 at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial and the dedication of the grave will follow in the Ascutneyville Cemetery in Ascutney. A reception for family and friends will follow at the church.
