Lancaster, NH/Pinellas Park, FL – Laura Jean Johnson, 66, former long time resident of Hartland, VT, died Friday, August 5, at the Mt. Ascutney Health Care Facility in Windsor, VT. She was born March 20, 1950 in Winooski, VT the daughter of Laurence and Evelyn (Lecuyer) Yandow.
Laura grew up in Winooski and graduated from Winooski High School in 1968.
She worked on and off at the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, VT. She married Robert H. Mattson. They moved to Hartland, VT where she started her long career with the State of Vermont as a social worker. Following her divorce she met Lawrence Johnson eight years later they were married in 1988. They made their home on Merritt Road in Hartland. She retired in 2002 and they bought property in Pinellas Park Florida where they wintered. They built a camp in Lancaster, NH and summered there.
Laura enjoyed traveling, ocean cruses, playing cards and dominos with her lady friends at their Florida home. She was an active member of the Unit 5 Women's Club in Pinellas Park. Most of all Laura loved to shop always buying gifts for other people.
Laura was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Barbara DePaul and Darlene Yandow.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence "Larry" Johnson of Lancaster, NH, her son, Robert J. Mattson and his girl friend, Amy Lyons of Hartland, VT, one granddaughter, Jailyn Winter Mattson, a step son, Kenneth Johnson and his wife Nikki of Whitefield, NH, a sister, Corrine Myers and her husband, Rodney of Winooski, VT, as well several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday afternoon, August 11, from 1-2PM at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT. Funeral service will be held immediately following at 2PM at the funeral home.
