ASCUTNEY, VT
Larry J. Raynor, 69, a former resident of Ascutney, passed away Monday afternoon, June 26 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in White River Jct., VT.
He was born June 30, 1947 in Hanover, NH the son of James and Eleanor (Colburn) Raynor. He attended school in Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1966. He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge he returned to New Hampshire and married Beverly Marcott on January 27, 1973. Larry was employed as a truck driver for numerous trucking companies in the Upper Valley driving cross country for many years, until his retirement.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #25 in Windsor and a member of the VFW. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and took pleasure in transporting them to their many sporting events.
He was predeceased by his parents and by one son, Randy Raynor in 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Raynor of Ascutney, two daughters, Carol Eastman of Windsor, VT and Dorothy Raynor of Indiana, one sister, Lencie Raynor of Claremont, NH, four grandchildren, Leanna Aldrich, James Aldrich, William Colburn and A.J. Colburn, two great grandchildren, Silas and Jonathon, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held Saturday, July 15 beginning at 11:30AM at the Windsor Fairgrounds on Route 44 in Windsor. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, Vermont Affiliate at 512 Troy Ave. Suite #2, Colchester, VT 05446-3113.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the doctors and nurses at the Veterans Hospital for the excellent care they provided to Mr. Raynor.
