Orange, NH- Klaus Dieter Arnold, 79, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Klaus was born June 10, 1938 in Ragnit, East Prussia, a son of Helmuth and Elsa (Kapp) Arnold. During WWII His family fled their home losing everything. They settled in Usseln, Germany where he graduated from High School and attended trade school. 1958 he moved to Westbury, NY, he later met and Married Eileen Walsh in 1960, they made their home in Hempstead, NY and later in Brentwood, NY. He owned a delicatessen in Oakdale, NY where he worked until 1971 when they made their move to New Hampshire after vacationing in the area. He worked for a time at Home Improvement and Im Pro before starting Indian River Contracting, where he worked for 40 years before getting ill and passing the torch to his eldest who continues to operate the company.
Klaus was a hard worker and enjoyed working, in his spare time he and his sons built his new home in Orange.
He is predeceased by a brother: Jurgen Arnold, and two sisters, Eleanor Lauro and Marie Luise Budaker.
Klaus is survived by his loving wife Eileen of Orange, three sons, Peter and his wife Heather of Canaan, NH, Paul and his partner Sophie of Orange, and Steven and his partner Eva of Canaan; ten grandchildren, April Arnold, Ashley McKinney, Caitlin Arnold, Hannah Arnold, Desirae Luvey, Amanda Arnold, Seannah Arnold, Nicholas Arnold, Dillan Arnold and Caleb Arnold; three great-grandchildren, Connor McKinney, Andrew Hammond, Bentley Digby; sister Ursula Grigo of Lake Peekskill, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a committal service at the convenience of the family. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction assisted with arrangement.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the wonderful caring help they received from the staff of Bayada Hospice.
