Obituary

Wilder, VT - Kevin Avery of Wilder, VT passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.

Kevin was born on November 5, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri where he lived with his parents and six siblings. Kansas City is where Kevin developed his love of music, good food, and his devotion to family, including his lifelong friend, Don Wintz.

The year 1988 brought Kevin to Vermont after he was pursued by the Bentley brothers of Woodstock to be head chef at their restaurants. Kevin worked closely with the brothers for many years until he switched gears a bit and worked at BG's Market in Hartland so he could excel at what he considered the most important job he would ever have: that of a single Dad to his daughter Samantha. He stayed at BG's Market for 25 years until he received the terrible news that he had prostate cancer, and it became too strenuous physically. Kevin fought hard and rallied back enough to begin a new, less physically strenuous career at Fuji Diamatrix where he really enjoyed learning new things every day.

In June 2003, Kevin married the love of his life, Sally-Anne (Fellows), and they have spent the past two decades blending their families, going on road trips with the top down on the yellow Jeep, playing music (Kevin played, Sally listened), watching the Kansas City Chiefs, eating good food, scratching lottery tickets, and supporting each other, till death did they part. More than anything, Kevin and Sally built upon their respect for one another and their mutual love of family. The greatest joy in Kevin's life came from his four grandchildren, who knew him simply as Papa.

Kevin is predeceased by his parents Marilyn and Lester, a sister Chris, and brother Stephen. He is survived by his devoted wife Sally-Anne, three sisters, Susan, Kathy, and Charlotte, and brother Lazer, as well as daughter Samantha Avery of Tunbridge, VT, stepdaughter Yee-Wah, and husband Corey Brabant and their children Annabelle and Parker of Cannan, NH, stepdaughter Katie-Anne and husband Jaycob Washburn and their two children Austin and Claire of Bethel, VT. Kevin also leaves many brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews grieving his loss.

Kevin loved life to the max, and we will be celebrating his beautiful soul at the rec center in Hartland, VT on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm. We invite everyone to wear their favorite football team attire and bring a cocktail to toast Kevin while we share our memories.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in Kevin's honor to either the Norris Cotton Cancer Center or the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire.
