Thetford Center, VT - Kenneth W. Smith died Friday October 11, 2024, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative Care in Lebanon, NH one day shy of his 72nd birthday.

He was born October 12, 1952, the oldest son of Lawrence and Hilda (Burnham) Smith. He grew up on Woodstock Road in White River Jct. and graduated from Hartford High School. Kenny developed a love for the woods at an early age as he began logging with his father. After school he began working for himself, operating K.W. Smith Trucking and worked logging, excavating, and trucking throughout the Upper Valley all his life. He met the love of his life, "Mellie" at her store on the Lyme Road in Hanover and they have been together for the past 46 years.

In his free time Kenny often returned to the woods where he enjoyed hunting or snowmobiling with his brother. In later years he enjoyed antique tractor pulling with his friend Dale Bishop.

He is survived by his wife Carmela "Mellie" Smith of Thetford Center; her children Sandra Jones of Hastings, NY, and Linda Walker of Thetford Center; his brothers, Kelvin Smith (Kristen) of White River Jct., and Larry Smith (Cathie) of Hartford as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held from 6-8pm Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct.
