Obituary

West Lebanon, NH- Kenneth E. Broughton, 84, died Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Valley Terrace in Wilder, VT.

Ken was born August 27, 1939, in Lebanon, NH a son of Frank and Julia (Gordon) Broughton. He grew up on Crafts Avenue in West Lebanon and graduated from West Lebanon High School Class of 1957. Ken studied at North Hampton Commercial College in Massachusetts and George Washington University in Washington, DC. After college he continued living in Washington and began work as an administrative assistant for the Controller of The Navy. He later moved to New York City and took a position as an accountant and administrator at the New York Hospital in Manhattan and later the Economic Club of New York. Ken longed for New England and returned to the region settling in Winchendon, MA for many years. He worked for the Worcester Regional School District until retiring in 2017. Following retirement Ken returned to West Lebanon and has resided at Valley Terrace for the past two years.

Ken loved to attend Broadway shows and traveling to see shows at the Ogunquit Playhouse. During his time in Massachusetts Ken was a Justice of the Peace, especially the joy it brought him to marry people and be a part of that special time in their life.

Ken is preceded in death by a brother William Broughton and sister Loy A. Nolet. He is survived by a sister Beverly Lique of West Lebanon.

Ken's family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Valley Terrace, Comfort Zone Inc., and Bayada Hospice for all the care they provided.

Burial will be in the Hilltop Cemetery in Quechee at the convenience of the family. Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences to Ken's family may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
