Kathryn Louise Coleman, aka Kate, was born in Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Brattleboro, VT on June 15, 1944, to William Franklin Coleman and Ina Lillian Allen Coleman and passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH on Sunday, November 20, 2023, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family members.
Kate's early years were spent in Brattleboro, VT living with family on Western Avenue. The family was close to her grandparents, Charles and Jerusha Allen. The family then moved to Winhall, VT after WWII into the house directly across from the access road to Stratton Mountain. She remained there until after her mother's death in 1983. At that time, she and her father built and moved to the property on Old Town road in which she resided until her death.
She attended grammar school at Winhall School House, now the Town Hall. She graduated from Leland Gray Seminary in Townsend, VT and graduated from Northampton Commercial College in Northampton, MA.
She worked briefly for Holstein Friesian Association in Brattleboro, VT. She subsequently became the Town of Winhall's Treasurer and eventually the Town's Tax Collector which she held until her death.
Kate was a long-time member of the Eastern Star with various prestigious responsibilities. She was a Past Matron of Mount Lebanon in Jamaica and Grand Treasurer of the Eastern Star State of Vermont.
Her love of family and devotion to the same was something one wishes to aspire to, as well as the love of her animals. The most recent doggie loves of her life were her sweethearts, Hoover and Max.
She is survived by one brother, William Allen Coleman of Mt. Dora, FL. In addition, she is survived by two nieces, Judith M. Robison of Hernando, FL and Kathleen M. Coleman of Temple, TX and one nephew, William R. Coleman of Bennington, VT.
She is also survived by three grand nephews, Jeffery Robison of Deltona, FL and William A. Coleman, aka Liam, and Evan Coleman both of Bondville, VT. Also, surviving are two grandnieces Kaitlyn McKinney of El Paso, TX and Emily Coleman of Windham, VT. In addition, she is survived by a great-grandnephew, Kia McKinney of El Paso, TX.
