IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathleen Louise
Dana
December 6, 1952 – November 27, 2020
Kathleen Louise (Potwin) Dana, 67, of White River Junction, died in Claremont, New Hampshire on Friday, November 27, 2020.
Kathleen was born in Randolph, Vermont on December 6, 1952, daughter of Roger & Beverly (Blood) Potwin. As a child she loved nature and getting into many adventures with her siblings and cousins. She grew up in the Quechee and Woodstock area and graduated from Woodstock High School, then attended and graduated from Endicott College in Massachusetts with a degree in fashion design. Her design skill took her to shops from Boston to Boulder to create and design beautiful pieces of clothing.
As a teenageer, working in her parent's restaurant in Taftsville, she caught the eye of a Pomfret boy, named Robert Dana. She married her sweetheart on January 20, 1973 in North Pomfret in a candlelit ceremony. Katy and Bob lived in Denver, Colorado and moved to Taftsville, Vermont where they lived for ten years before returning to Quechee.
Katy had many talents: children and art being ones she enjoyed immensely. She opened several businesses incorporating these talents such as Rainbow Playschool and Vermont Fashion Design. She sewed for friends, clients, celebrities, and family and loved to combine her art and love of the Vermont landscape into her design. She enjoyed volunteering and loved raising her children, watching her grandchildren grow, and having family get-togethers. Whether she was organizing the church Christmas pageant, singing in the choir, or volunteering for her children's school, Katy did all of these things with a loving and selfless spirit of giving.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roger Potwin and Beverly (nee Blood) Potwin and her nephew Joseph Howland. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Robert D. Dana of White River Junction; three children, Benjamin Dana and his partner Courtney Seidler of Quechee, Jonathan Dana and his partner Lisa Luppino of Norwalk,Connecticut, and Hillary (Dana) Schmid and her husband Chris of Milton, Vermont. Her three granddaughters, Annabel and Lucy Schmid, and Olivia Dana were the sparkle in her eye and the spring in her step. She is survived by her siblings and their spouses, Christine Howland of Wheelock, Vermont and Shirley Moxley of Mescalero, New Mexico; one brother, Larry Potwin of Quechee; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Katy's family would like to thank the amazing nurses and staff at the Elmwood Center in Claremont and at the Scotland House in Quechee for the care that they showed Katy. Katy touched everyone she knew with her gentleness and kindness, even as her body and mind began to change. In honor of Katy, please hug your family tight and tell them how very loved they are. Our family finds comfort in knowing that Katy is Home and singing with the angels.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
