Kathleen Marie Carriere, 82, passed peacefully in her home with her son at her side on December 7, 2021. Born on August 10, 1939 in New Orleans, Louisiana, where as a young child she entertained Army troops heading overseas. She was a 1957 graduate of John McDonough High School and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where she met and married her children's father who predeceased her in 1985. Kathleen was also predeceased by her mother, Beatrice Tiemann and father, Marius Michael Carriere, also predeceased by her aunts Virginia Viola (lovingly called Lollie and her husband Uncle George) and Fedora (called Nanny) Tiemann. Kathleen was a loving mother who was survived by her three children: Allison Ann, Michael James and Marcella Marie. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert Michael, Brendan Patrick, and Kristi Marie, as well as her great grandchild, Ava Marie. Her brother, Marius, his wife Judith Miriam, their children, Noelle and Michael (Beaux) and grandchildren Charlotte and Diana also survive her. In addition, Kay is survived by many friends who came to be her extended family. Kay, as she was called by all who knew and loved her, was adventurous in her travels and the activities in which she partook. In her younger years, she traveled to Tahiti, The Soviet Union, Mexico and she enjoyed being a passenger on many cruise ships (the QE II, and the Leonardo DaVinci to name a few). She also went White Water Rafting down the Colorado River.
Kay was an actress, who loved to entertain. She taught acting at the Long Beach Island Foundation of Arts and Sciences; she also performed as a troupe member of the Popsicle Players and at the Geroge Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While in New Jersey, she also continued her education at Livingston College of Rutgers University. She wrote a cooking column for The Beachcomber weekly paper and published a cookbook of a compilation of many of her recipes. In her later years, she moved to Vermont and immersed herself in its history and continued to share her love for the theatrical as a reenactor, being a founding member of the Heritage Committee, which brought the historical presentation and celebration of the establishment of the Republic of Vermont to Windsor. She also was integral in Windsor's POW WOW's in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Most recently Kay owned and operated the Mill Brook Bed & Breakfast, sharing her love for the culinary influences of her life, she was eclectic and electric in her love for life, people and animals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy will live on in every heart she touched.
