Katherine Elizabeth Keating

White River Junction, VT – Katherine Elizabeth Keating, 68, died on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care in Lebanon, NH after a brief illness. Kate was born in Sedalia, MO while her father was stationed there with the Air Force to parents Edward J. and Thora W. (Stevens) Keating. She graduated from Keene, NH High School in 1976 and from Keene State College in 1991. For many years she worked as a social worker with the Keene Housing Authority, Home Healthcare Hospice in Keene, and the Grafton County Senior Citizens Council. She met Bob Sunn in 2005, and they married in 2010 and made their home in the Upper Valley.

Kate enjoyed the outdoors kayaking and gardening.

She is survived by her husband Bob Sunn of White River Junction, VT; son Christian Keating and Shavon Baker of Northfield, VT; two brothers Paul Keating and wife Brenda of Florida and Michael Keating and wife Anne of Keene, NH; one granddaughter Shealee Hannigan-Keating of Vermont; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Edward J. Keating, III.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Hartford Cemetery. Memorial donations are appreciated to the Grafton County Senior Citizens Council www.gcscc.org or Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society www.lucymac.org.
