Katherine J. Hugaboom
White River Jct., VT — Katherine J. Hugaboom, 66, died Tuesday June 20th at home in White River Jct.
She was born July 10, 1945, in Ogdensburg, NY a daughter of Oscar and Katherine (Sullivan) Hugaboom. Kathy graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Ogdensburg in 1963, and from Potsdam State University in 1967 with a teaching degree. She went on to teach in both Massena and Rochester, NY before moving to White River Jct. in 1981, where she worked for a time as a substitute teacher. ?Katherine was an active member of St. Anthony's Church in White River Jct., where she was a member of the Reaching Out Committee and had been a Minister of Communion assisting the Catholic Chaplain at the Veteran's Administration Hospital, where she faithfully cared for the Chapel alter linens. She was a member and President of the local chapter of the Third Order of Mary, to which she professed on February 2, 1984. She helped found Community Dinners and volunteered for many years on the Jennie Ward cook team.
She is survived by cousins who knew her as "Kanette," including Sister Mary Christine Taylor of New York, Modwena Sullivan, Sharon Sullivan Denisi and Maureen Sullivan Dempsey of California, Therese Sullivan, William Sullivan and Janet Sullivan Dennis of Maine, Katherine Sullivan Duguay of Nevada, Richard Jellie and Joseph Sullivan of New York and Patricia Sullivan of Canada, as well as many friends locally and in Ogdensburg. She was a dear adopted family member of the Jon and Katy Chaffee family of West Lebanon, NH.
At her request, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM at St. Anthony's Church in White River Jct. Tuesday June 26th at 11AM. Burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ogdensburg, NY Wednesday June 27th at 2PM.
