Orford, NH – Karoline Helen Boddington, 74, died Monday, August, 29, 2022 at her home in Orford with her family in attendance. She was born in 1948, in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of Karl Gustav Sturz and Angie Marian (Archer) Sturz. At the age of ten, her family moved to Palm Springs, Florida. She graduated from Lake Worth High School and Palm Beach Community College before transferring to Florida State University (FSU) to complete her bachelor's degree in Art Education in 1970. Karol met Gordon at FSU in 1968 and married in 1974. Following graduation, Karol began teaching at Boynton Beach Elementary.
After marriage, Karol and Gordon lived in West Palm Beach where she worked at Southern Bell Telephone Company as a service representative. They relocated to Sugar Hill, NH in 1987, where she taught 5th grade and special education at Bath Elementary. At the age of 57, Karol received a degree in nursing from NH Technical Community College and became a registered nurse (RN). She worked at Lebanon Center Genesis Elder Care Facility until she retired in 2013. One fellow employee once described her as being a "most kind and unselfish nurse".
Karol had many lifelong interests and hobbies including art, reading, and attending Dartmouth football and hockey games. Karol also enjoyed serving as a member of the Rondo Women's Social Group of Orford, NH, and St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Fairlee, VT. She and husband Gordon enjoyed volunteering and attended as ushers countless HOP events at Dartmouth College. Together they loved to travel, dance, explore used bookstores, relax at the beach on Lake Morey and spend time with grandchildren. Karol is survived by her husband, Alfred "Gordon" Boddington of Orford, NH, son, Gordon Boddington, of Orford, NH, daughter, Laura Amanda Bovee of Seattle, WA, and two grandchildren, as well as many dear friends.
A memorial service following cremation will be held Saturday, October 1 st , at 1PM at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, in Fairlee, VT.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Garden Fund of St. Martin's Episcopal Church at 5327 Lake Morey Rd., Fairlee, Vt. 05045. Karol always enjoyed visiting the garden.
